After years of running this site, I have now gone to The Dark Side. This web site will continue, but I really need someone new to take over.

Hi, Just joined today, I only found out about these campers yesterday as we use tents. we are in our late 40s and we've decided we want a bit of comfort now no more bending down or hammering pegs. Got a Citroen Berlingo and don't want to get a larger vehicle as I don't want to tow caravans. I've been doing some research on these campers but there are so many questions I need to ask? Been looking on the Manufacturers website and I'm planning a visit up there from Birmingham before taking the plunge and buying a second hand one next spring, I don't want to spend lots of money but I also want a decent one so will look at spending about £2000. Two questions to ask firstly: I need to store this outside on my driveway can you get good quality weatherproof covers for winter protection and 2. Why aren't these campers made anymore is it because there are better more modern equivalents. We've just got back from Buxton after a few days break with a brand new tent but I really want one of these Dandy's.

Meet the family, Rick, Debbie and Jimmy the Rat Terrier.

No idea why, but I missed this topic

Lets try and help... 2nd user Dandy and £2k you will get a good clean and tidy Dandy for that
No issue storing outside, you can modify a caravan cover if you wanted to, the main thing to watch out for is mice! make sure no food source for them.
If you do visit Riva, Ian will tell you the Dandy story, its sad they are no longer made, but if they were, with today's prices I would bet a entry model would be around £10k going up to 17/18k Few nowdays would pay that for a trailer tent

Hope that helps, and sorry for missing your original post
