I made a cosy for the pot I use when backpacking, using this material and duct tape.
The cosy is double walled with a lid and bottom. When cooking food that needs to simmer, I bring the pot to the boil then turn off the stove and place the pot in the cosy. The food continues to cook and is still too hot to eat after 1/2 Hr. It saves gas and avoids the need to keep an eye on the burning stove for safety. The principle could probably be scaled up for cooking in a Dandy.
