I did a info sheet on the awning rail, have look in the Download/Info Sheets area.
We just ran a TV cable under the main body PVC where is Velcros onto the bat wings.

Having owned Dandy's for decades, I have always advocated fitting the awning rail in line with the wall edge so when not in use it is out of sight.
It also stops the door on any Destiny fowling the roof on opening and closing.
It also has strength allowing stronger fitting and lessening the chance of puncturing the fabric where there is a void beneath.
