Hi. I have a Dandy Dart that we are plannning to sell. Last year we had a problem in that the Left axle came loose and the wheel fell off as a result. It was welded on on the roadside by a mobile welder who added a bit of metal to support the weld, but he said the axles should really be bolted on. (presumably they are at least welded). I had a look underneath yesterday and sure enough there are empty bolt holes which are not drilled through. Was this just a mistake when our Dandy was made. Has anyone else had this problem and had it fixed. I would be grateful for any advice and if anyone is in a position to have a look at the axle attachment on their dandy it would be helpful to know if their axles are bolted on.

Thanks

Caroline

As for welded or bolted my 1970 dandy 4 had the axle welded and so did the early dandy 5
My mates very old dandy 4 had them bolted .
1 Inches of a good weld will hold up to 1 ton in weight. So if they are breaking lose with welding the weld prep must not be the best. Because of the frame set up with dandy's you would need to weld a base plate to bolt onto as well.
