Hi All - I have just purchased my first Dandy (ebay gamble) and am working through a bit of a spruce up to get it usable. So far a load of cleaning and replacing the odd hinge is making it increasingly presentable.

Having now searched through a number of resto pics and videos (should have bought Pats!!) I notice that the bed frame on mine is made entirely from wood. Is this normal or is it a Heath Robinson job by a previous owner? The Dandy is orange and white - early 70's I believe.

I ask as all the pics I have seen seem to show a metal frame with ply base - any info/insight appreciated. :)

I have only seen metal frames, so not really sure.

They are only 19mm box section tube welded together - any fabrication shop could make you some for less money than a second hand pair would cost.

Cheers for the info - what is the depth of the outer frame? the wood replacement that makes the frame up on mine is 90mm tall. Apologies for the daft questions but I have never seen another one in the flesh (schoolboy error in bidding and buying on ebay).

I was assuming it is likely to be aluminium with a lip on the inner for the ply bed base to drop into. Will keep searching for pics to aid my understanding.

Thanks
