After years of running this site, I have now gone to The Dark Side. This web site will continue, but I really need someone new to take over.

Came back from a walk by the river and thought I would check out the internet for a Dandy, low and behold it was there waiting for me to make the phone call, not a designer but very close a Discovery winterised with spare wheel & extra "bed window", I will get gas struts for it and start to use it at once. Has anyone retrofitted gas struts ? Is it difficult? Is it worth doing -do they make life easier? I hope to put this up single handed.

Congratulations :)

Are you going to be putting up the Dandy alone, or do you have help?
The gas struts can only make life easier, and there was a firm in Stoke fitting them, I thing it was for £250.00

Thanks Neil -On my Jack , I am quite handy and always prepared to have a go, perhaps you can let me know what the difference between the two types of struts that Riva are selling- presumably the more expensive strut provides the most help.

Not really able to make a comment re the struts, as the three Dandys we have had have not had them.
I have, though not heard any complaints re the cheaper struts and the fitting. The person used also adapt the Dandy for disabled users.
Though I have not seen him advertise for a while

Hi Maria.
We have a Designer and also struts.
It does make life easier, well it does fo rtwo of us, I'm not sure how much easier it would make it for a solo camper.
We had them originally fitted by Ian at Riva. I'd had a shoulder op that was slow to clear up and it was affecting me helping the other half erect the tent.
They did may a difference
