In the end I decided a 38mm lift was enough rather that the 51mm as previously mentioned. These were made with 4mm steel plate with 38mm box section welded in the middle. The eagle eyed might see the plates are offset by 13mm as I wanted to put the wheels a little more outboard in the arches. This is not for clearance issues but more for looks as they are tucked quite far in as std.

Once painted I will show photos of it all put together and fixed to the car.

Time to bolt the extension plates on, this is before fitting and hooked up to the car. Not too bad now the bigger wheels are fitted but still nose up.

And with the lift plates fitted - just about level now, so very happy with this modification.

As the plastic wheel arches were a bit loose - the rivets had worked loose and one or two holes are cracked I drilled them off and actually prefer the look without them fitted. I will machine some new much smaller arches which will be centred on the tyre which should look a lot smarter.

This means we have the wheel arches and 3 wheels (10" rims) and tyres available for sale if anyone needs them?

I may be going a bit mad, but am sure its a legal requirement to have the wheel arches fitted...

As long as the wheel does not stick outside the body work , You should not need arches to cover anything if you wish.
That it is the rule on classic minis for the mot
